National Water Hygiene

Location

This course will be conducted through video conferencing. It facilitates interactive two-way communication, allowing delegates to ask questions. Each attendee must have a webcam and microphone for identity verification and the ability to respond to examination questions.

Note: The minimum age of attendance for this course is 16 years old, however delegates who are under the age of 18 must bring a completed parental consent form to the first day of the training course.

Entry Requirements

A health screening questionnaire is an essential element of the scheme and must be completed by all candidates prior to the training and assessment.

The minimum entry is a good understanding of spoken and written English.

This course is suitable for all levels.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND
ASSESS & CERTIFY

This course aims to instill an awareness of the importance of maintaining good hygiene practices while working with potable water.

By the end of the course, delegates will be able to:

  • Be fully aware of the ways in which potable water could be contaminated
  • Understand that it is their responsibility to prevent the water becoming contaminated;
  • Obtain the nationally agreed level of training, testing and medical clearance by successfully completing the National Water Hygiene test

Once you have successfully completed your National Water Hygiene training and assessment, you will understand the vital part you play in maintaining clean and safe drinking water and protecting public health. All new and renewal National Water Hygiene EUSR registrations are issued with a virtual card instead of the previous plastic card (also known as the ‘Blue Card’).

This EUSR National Water Hygiene course is for those who will be entering or are about to enter working on clean water sites or on the clean water network.

It grants holders the authorisation to work in designated “Restricted Operations” areas, which encompass activities related to reservoirs, pumping stations, treatment works, wells, springs, boreholes, and work on the water mains network and service pipes.

Additional Attendee Information

  • Please inform us if you have any serious health issues, physical problems or are taking any medication which may create difficulties in undertaking elements of this training course
  • You will need a suitably sized quiet room where they can carry out the course without interruptions
  • You will need to provide recent Photo identification
  • The examination will be carried out using an online examination tool using XAMS and will be subject to invigilation.
  • We recommend using Google Chrome as the XAMS platform is not compatible with Internet Explorer. The e-learning cannot be completed on a mobile phone.
  • Your first re-sit is auto generated and can be taken on the same day. However, you may need to re-take one or more of the e-Learning modules.
  • After you have completed the e-assessment you will be contacted for invigilation purposes
  • All prices shown are subject to VAT

  • You will complete an induction prior to starting the course

TRAINING & ASSESSMENT METHODS

A health screening questionnaire is an essential element of the scheme and must be completed by all individuals prior to the training and assessment

To successfully achieve this course delegates must pass an e-assessment at the end of the course and a basic command of English

At the end of the e-learning you must pass the e-Assessment covering all aspecrs of the course and you must achieve a result of 80% or over.

Results under 80% will require a re-sit of the e-Assessment

CERTIFICATION

On completion of the National Water Hygiene course and assessment, the virtual NWH Blue Card will be issued to the delegate and updated onto the EUSR register

Certification for this course is valid for 3 years from the date of training. To remain certified in this area, you will need to retake the National Water Hygiene course before the expiry date
